As seen in the photo the spine of the knife has a rough edge and is not polished smooth. This is a characteristic of the knife and is not a defect.

Carbon steel can be affected by moisture or corrosive environments. To improve the longevity of your knife be sure to dry the knife and oil the blade after use.
